I was recently told about a wonderful book titled “When Survivors Give Birth,” by Penny Simkin, PT, and Phyllis Klaus, CSW, MFT. I would highly recommend that survivors and those who care about them buy this book. It gives very insightful information about both the need to address

Survivor Moms is an excellent book for all mothers or mothers-to-be who were themselves abused as a child. For many survivors, it is not until a life-changing event occurs, such as having a child, do they look back at what happened to them and how it has affected their lives.

I highly encourage all survivors and those who care for them to read the new 20^th anniversary edition of The Courage to Heal by Laura Davis and Ellen Bass.  It includes a preface outlining the many additions to their groundbreaking original book which they began in 1984.
